General Description

The Abyssal Knights are a quasi-freelance group (see details within), stationed primarily at Fort Suture , an alternative thought experiment if the Shattered Worlds got more attention and was taken more seriously from the two founding organisations that created the Abyssal Knights. Fort Suture is similar in size to the Void Knight’s base and acts as a home for the men and women of the Abyssal Knights and its functionaries.

The portals are also guarded similarly to the Void Knights, though attacks are often small in nature with some rare exceptions, but still occur and pose a threat. There is also another aspect to the Abyssal Knights and it’s “FOG” (Forward Observations Group), which are wandering Abyssal Knights, with their main directive to survive by their own means, gather intelligence to anything anomalous, discover the location and then report via comm-orb and observe until relieved, to which they will test the anomaly, if it is transient, then a Knight follows it. The following tests cease if the anomaly attacks, the Knight/s disengage, then return to base.

FOG is to help freelancers in all places - they may be at the rising sun, having something to drink, before heading off or other situations. However, Fort Suture is its own canon and since the Abyssal Knights are neutral outside of their goal, they will not be politically used or involved outside of completing the mission: Destroy the anomalies or contain the ones that cannot be seemingly destroyed.

I plan to start this as a Friend chat group, then depending on numbers, maybe a clan and/or Discord server, but time will tell.

Rules
All members of this roleplay are expected to follow these rules, as well as Jagex’s own:

- No bullying, whether by race, creed or ethnicity, et al.
- Do not harass fellow members or others that you interact with in this group.
- Characters that are considered to be overpowered to a high degree will not be tolerated, Knights are mortal.
- OOC disputes are to be settled outside of the setting, including those in or out of the group and are expected to be cordial, intentionally being the opposite will be a breach in the rules.
- Members who are caught metagaming will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis, though if caught, will receive demerits.
- Lastly, respect all.

IC Rules
- Be respectful to all, whether it be functionary or knight.
- Knights must address higher ranking Knights and Officers by their rank and last name, at a position of attention until “at ease”: “Task completed, Captain Davis”. “At ease”). This applies to when being called or talked to, you run to the person and stand at attention.
- Knights are to understand their place and responsibilities as knights, moreso with COs and whatever their MOS requires of them.
- If a Knight is "green" (Either immediately as an initiate temple knight or a new void knight, alongside Enlistees), are required to perform PT, a level of education and sparring before entering the Shattered Worlds or taking on missions.
- Abandoning a mission without authorization or disregarding orders may earn demerits (Elaborated below).
- It is prohibited to intervene in situations that may be political in nature or cause disgrace to the order
- All Knights are to remain neutral, though are allowed to defend themselves.

Have you seen this man?



This is Gehrman, also known as "The Cloaked One". Whilst we here at the Order are no bounty hunters, we've been led to believe that this elusive serial killer is in possession, or pessessed by, some sort of anomaly. His face seemingly unable to be seen as his cloak is believed to be enchanted to conceal it. He also has orb-like red eyes, quite distinctive armour and an ominous aura.

Be wary though, he is incredibly efficient in combat according to sources, defeating a group of 4 white knights and evading capture. Under no means are you to attack him unless there are at least 6 individuals ready to fight him. Should you be able to defeat him, the bounty will be split by all surviving knights and invested into their retirement funding.

Statement of roleplay locations

Locations of roleplay will vary, but in general:
Jatizso (As Fort Suture)
Just outside the Shattered World’s area.

Fort Suture
Fort Suture was created in cooperation with the Abyssal Knights, the Temple and Void Knights, alongside their beneficiaries to create a base for the Abyssal Knights long-term, as opposed to camping around the portals.

It is atop large rocky outcroppings, with most buildings having 2 or 3 tiers (plus basements) to house a contingent of 1 company’s (approx 100-250 individuals) worth of Knights and their equipment. It is built out of dark rock which is similar to the structures that are around the portals.

The portals and the base are separated by a large open area that 4 Knights are positioned in, plus 2 archer knights on the watchtowers and walls that surround the portals themselves. The knights in the watchtowers have bells. Depending on the duration and number of bells rang, it can mean casualties or require reinforcements.

Additionally, the aforementioned is all its own canon until acknowledged by other parties.

To elaborate on “This is it’s own canon”, I mean that the layout of Jatizso will be intermingled with the lumbridge swamp, Jatizso and the shattered worlds area. I will provide an image to represent this idea.



If a freelancer were to refer to “returning to base” in a different canon (that does not acknowledge the canon), then this would just default to the where the Abyssal Knights are present in-game.

Discussions of having this in another canon will be a topic to be discussed by myself and other parties.

Statement of functions
The Abyssal Knights are voluntary Knights (until an officer) that act as the frontline to battle creatures coming from the Abyss, it only worsens with the overuse of teleportation, which is combated by dispelling relevant anima that accumulates in the opening itself. There is also a wing that actively wanders to find any anomalies that may occur from significant events across Gielinor

As such, Fort Suture was made to house just over 2 platoon’s worth of Knights and for essential-functionaries, there are however more people than beds and most non-essential functionaries make their journey from either Draynor or Lumbridge on a day-to-day basis. If they are not residents of a given property already, they are given a billet request

The fort hosts a barracks, an armoury, commanding offices, medical area and a commonhall which is multi-purpose. It also has built-in recess’ for extra storage for anything required. There is some space for extensions, however building more will take a long time due to the swamp below. The most southern wall of the settlement has gates which open up to the temple-like remains of the Shattered Worlds portals, with walls surrounding it in a rectangular shape.

Vigilance
At all times, there are to be 6 knights on duty, watching the portal at any given time. 2 standing 2 metres away from the door, facing the portal, another 5 metres atop two plinths and 2 who stand atop battlements, above the door and armed with heavy-duty crossbows or handcannons, as to make sure no flying entities can escape. They also have a bell to ring if significant activity is occurring or someone has been wounded.

Knight hierarchy

The Hierarchy is merit-based, see the post below for rank-epaulets. Each time a knight climbs a rank (Corporal+), they can include an extra 2 privates under their command, increases by 2 per rank, with Sergeants of the Colour being able to lead 8 knights. this goes on until a knight reaches an officer promotion, an interview will be conducted by Decarte, alongside high-ranking Void and Temple Knights. If seen fit, a Knight will become a Officer Cadet and start officer duties.

Enlisted Ranks

Privates/Pvt
Fresh out of training and ready to begin their expeditions into the Shattered realms. Should be capable of being able to defend themselves from attacks and can survive in severe conditions.

Corporals/Cpl
Somewhat experienced and have seen the twisted nature of the Shattered realms, though is not fully acclimated.

Sergeant/Sgt
They’ve seen plenty of trips and now only occasionally visit the shattered realms due to health concerns due to long-duration within the Shattered Realms, by this point they will either be training or have completed an MOS training.

Staff Sergeant/Ssgt
The Ssgt mostly makes sure to keep all other sergeants in check and are required to be trained in how to train other sergeants in drill instruction for enlistees.

Sergeant of the Colours (or “Colours” for short)/SC
Has seen it all. Maybe even all of Gielinor. SCs are responsible for ceremonial trainings, as denotes their “bearing of the coloured flag” during distinct promotions, formal meetings and funeral rites. This flag appears similar to the Order’s emblem, with a lighter background.
