Introductions
As the fire, stoked by the careful hand of a young boy, licked the newly placed ash log it let out a loud crack. The boy, who found this sound to be agreeable, smiled and gazed into the dancing flames. His head filled with images of adventure, excitement and prestige and he found himself at peace with the world.
But the boy grew into a man and put aside such childish things; for they were fantasies and nothing more. He focused on what had become important; work, worries and woe. It was only when the man grew to be an elder and the world, now a more familiar place to the man, slowed down for him to see, did he feel regret. He wished he had chased the dreams of his childhood and embraced the life that could have been. The man, angry with himself, found himself in turmoil with the world.
As he rested on his deathbed, the old man looked up and was greeted by the visages of his family. A young boy, his grandson, took the man's hand and looked at his grandfather's now failing face. The old man smiled through watery eyes.
'Follow your heart, my boy, and never look back.'
The old man then took a final breath, closed his eyes and awaited death. In his final moments, he prayed the boy understand his words and grow with them.
Mission statement
A Region of Tales is a roleplay set outside of the established canon for World 41 with the intention of breathing new life into the dying community. By setting itself in a small region and encouraging members to start storylines of their own, it hopes to increase activity on the server and ensure that W41's style of story-telling has a secure future. The roleplay itself will try not to restrict the actions of its members, as long as those actions are reasonable, and will hopefully tell a tale of how the actions of a few can shape a region's future.
Roll a D20 to pay respects.
