How was it created?:
Arondight was created by the Godless Nomads, a rather unheard of faction in the God Wars of disgruntled beings trying to avoid the will of the Gods at Castle Sansa. An Imcando dwarf named Turok led the project, forging the blade from an alloy made up of blurite, runite, steel, and silver and given a core made up of the feather of an Icyene, and a single onyx set into the pommel. It took many years for this sword to be forged with the rare materials it required, and Crast did not have it until his final five years in life. The final ingredient was a drop of Crast’s blood, which insured that it could only be wielded by Crast or members of his bloodline.
Appearance/Material:
Arondight is a beautiful 36” turquoise blade, it looked rather plain and had the Ares family crest imprinted into it’s onyx-inset pommel. The neck of the blade is coiled in a corkscrew formation, so that it can be held by this portion of the blade and wielded in reverse as a staff.
What can it do?:
Arondight was infamous for its ability to draw from the anima of its surroundings to enhance its own power, a feat often used to generate a sharper edge or to turn a weak swing into a stronger one. In its most enhanced form, the sword could even project its energy outwards into a larger blade or generate copies of the blade as projectiles. Crast even would be known to sometimes just use it as a staff, sending blasts of pure energy from the onyx at the pommel as it was intended to be alternatively wielded. Finally, the blade itself can be called to the wielder with little effort, or the wielder can call themselves to the blade. This allowed for it to always return to the wielder’s hand when lost.
Artefact History:
The blade was wielded by Crast in his last five years alive, and when he died, it seemed it would be lost to history. However, many years after the God Wars, it was taken by an ancestor of Malak Sorrow, Jacen and his sect of Crimson Templars on an expedition to the ruins of Castle Sansa. The sword was wonky and unwieldy due to its odd design, and due to Jacen not sharing any Ares blood, he was not able to wield it effectively. It was through his ego, however, that he continued to wield it. It was also through this ego-driven desire to wield the Godless Blade that he was killed at the hands of a barbarian ambush, and Arondigh* was taken to a loot pile in northern Misthalin, where it lay for over a century.
When the camp began to be excavated by Varrock Museum Archaeologists, Arondight became active, sensing the presence of the Ares bloodline nearby, and it called out to them. The local bar owner and woman of the people, Veronica Ares, suddenly felt drawn to the excavation site. She visited it daily and could never offer a satisfactory explanation as to why she was there. That is, until Arondight was unearthed and it flew to Veronica’s untrained hand. The sword itself seemed to pass onto her the styles of Crast’s own swordplay, despite her having never wielded a blade in her life before. The blade was carried by Veronica for years after this, and when she reached a ripe old age and retired from adventuring, she pass the blade down to her nephew, Carter, who agreed to pass it down to his next of kin when the time came. He then passed it down to his son, Carter II, who gave it to his younger brother, Andrew, who has kept it over his hearth since he was proclaimed King of Misthalin.

The blade was recently stolen, however, by the request of the bonded spirit of Crast Ares, who transferred his spirit from his vessel, Lincoln Castus, into the blade itself. The two then worked together to shatter the blade, and transform Arondight and Crast himself into a Dia*oh.
Who lives, who dies, who tells your story?
