Character Application cont.

Brief History:

Like any other demon, Astaroth was born in the pleasant realm known as Hell. Serving under the hierarchy as tool of destruction to use as they saw fit, He was eventually given the title of Duke and received a portion of land to rule over as compensation for his service. Content with his new position and land, Astaroth went into a retirement of sorts and withdrew himself from the rest of the world. When called upon to serve once more, Astaroth refused to commit any more bloodshed and this greatly displeased the hierarchy. As punishment, he was stripped of his title as Duke and sealed into a humanoid form along with being cast into the lower planes of Hell. Trapped in a humanoid form, Astaroth was forced to fight off the hordes of demons that now viewed him as prey instead of brethren.

The Miner's Catastrophe

Jordan Fisch ran a hand over his stubbled face, his right hand gripping tighter on his pickaxe. He looked around the cave at the Dorgeshuun miners he was working with, a few other human workers accompanied him, but this mine was mostly run by the workers out of Dorgesh-Khan. He turned and swung his pickaxe at the wall, rhythmically striking it over and over. The recent explosion had somewhat slowed progress, but apparently not too much. Jordan’s thoughts only lied with his son. Ever since the explosion, he had started levitating. They had taken him to the Wizard’s Tower, who had said he was Gracegiven or something. Jordan did*’t know what to think of it, he just worried that his son was in danger.

As he struck the rock wall, it crumbled away to reveal a wall of solid pre-formed brick. Jordan paused mid swing as he saw this, looking around at the other miners. He then swung again and the brick wall cracked open, giving way to a strange room. Jordan took a step through the hole he made, and found himself in what appeared to be a makeshift laboratory. He looked in horror as he made his way slowly through the room. The room was filled with people on operating tables, several of them torn apart with their organs in jars nearby. Jordan walked over to a lion’s head logo surrounded by an ouroboros, his pickaxe hung loosely in his hand as he heard a hissing noise behind him. Before he could turn around, however, sharp claws tore into his neck and his vision went black as he died instantly.

The next day, a report came out in the paper on a horrible mine collapse which killed the entirety of the miners involved, including the Duke’s cousin, Jordan Fisch.

Name: Victory Blackthorne

Gender: Male

Race: Meta-Human

Lineage: Unknown

Age: 23

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral; That is to say, he values his own independence and goals above all else.

Religion: None.

Grace/Racial Powers: V possesses a naturally high degree of physical development, as part of a loosely defined term known as 'Advanced Conditioning'. He makes gains much easier than normal human beings, and maintains them with ease. As a result, he is much stronger and faster than his occupation would indicate.

Talents/Skills: V has a preternatural gift for mercantile, and as such finds constructing his mercantile empire to be both enjoyable and rewarding. In addition, his natural confidence lends itself well to interactions with the fairer ***, and he typically finds himself popular with the local women. He also seems to share traits with some of his most legendary ancestors, and is capable of great feats of tactical planning.

Weapons/Specialized Tools: 'V' typically carries a blade of local design, relevant to the area he is traveling in. It is likely that he collects them during his travels, and deposits them elsewhere in some sort of collection. Other than that, his biggest specialized tool is simple paper contracts.

Weaknesses: Alas, for he is a man. Any of an incomprehensible list of things can lead to his unfortunate demise.

Appearance: V has roguish good looks, and short black hair. His eyes are a piercing, hereditary gray. His build is lean*y muscular, and he walks with a natural air of confidence and authority. His clothing is almost always of fine tailoring, if not always well-decorated.

Brief History: Victory Blackthorne is the seventh son of a trio of brothers, and one of the youngest scions of the Blackthorne clan. The clan's roots are lost in history, but they have largely been regarded almost entirely as heroes and adventurers, from which their wealth sprang. (Con't)

(Con't) Before long however, V realized that true power lies not in the skills of song and steel, or the mysteries of magic but in wealth. With enough wealth, a man can acquire anything he requires for his goals. Enough wealth can hollow mountains, and obtain armies. His decision to deviate from the path of the adventurer was met with some disappointment, but in the end acceptance was the best option. V claimed his inheritance early, and used it to make a series of cunning investments, manipulating local markets in Kandarin to cause a sudden surge in demand for steel weaponry, a demand he had the best supply to bring to market for. His contacts range everywhere from Kandarin to the eastern sands, though his strongest territorial holdings are in Kandarin and Asgarnia. He currently seeks to expand his ventures in Asgarnia, and begin securing the Kharidian trade routes he covets highly.

In a previous scouting expedition to the Kharidian Desert, V came upon a group of slavers hauling off a young blind girl. Rather than turn a blind eye, V strode into their camp with his typical confidence and slew them to a man. He afterwards adopted the girl, despite there only being a single year between their ages. He appears to harbor no ill intentions for her, and leaves her in the care of an elderly servant of the family, back at his personal home.

V operates by a certain, specific code. He does not traffic in slaves. He does not take lives without necessity. He does not like serious competition. He is mostly honest in his dealings, and expects the same from most clients. He is not above hiring mercenaries for seemingly unrelated tasks that lead to the downfall of a major opponent. Indeed, it was just such a cunning series of moves that saw him become the sole proprietor of a small fleet of trade ships, after the owner suddenly became bankrupt and needed to be bought out just to survive.

Pre-Approved by both Torq and Conner, these are the edits to Xavier and L/C after their exposure to the Lumbridge Explosion.

Xavier Edit
Due to recent exposure to the Lumbridge Explosion, Xavier began generating a second Grace. This one appeared to be a sort of localized manipulation of electricity. He gave off a much higher level of electrical energy than other people, one that he can focus into his physical movements to unleash electricity in his physical attacks and even short-range bolts of lightning.

Lincoln/Crast Edit
Since being exposed to the raw anima of the Lumbridge Explosion, both Lincoln and Crast began developing a Grace. It seemed to be a variation of Fire Manipulation that allowed for the creation and manipulation of very hot blue fire. The fire can be used like regular fire blasts, but also combined with Lincoln and Crast’s bizarre anima powers in various ways.

Palisade POV.

As Palisade found himself defending, and vouching for Xavier, his mind made connections they had not made previously. He called Xavier a good person, because Xavier accepted and wished to protect those sentient and peaceful beings who passed through the Rift. Palisade despised the idea of others taking the world from him, wanting them to stay away from his world that he held so dear. So, what does this make Palisade? Palisade was not, a good person. As he left for the North, he could not get the idea out of his head. The way he'd been nearly his whole life did not reflect what he saw as righteous and noble. The snow blew lightly, and as he strode in his tarnished armor, he thought of what he could do to better himself before he returned to the South.
With his pay, Palisade was able to pay off a healer to save his father's life by continuing his treatment. He decided to remain in the North for a little over two weeks. In this time, he worked to improve himself. He'd also have heard tales of a recently abandoned manor where there sits a flame that cannot wither in the cold winds of the North Country.
