it needs to be made clear that repeater crossbows ARE NOT semi automatic.

unless you tuck one away while you reload the other, and then switch, in which time, if you were in a fight, your sorry butt would be dead.

You know, you could explain how the draw weight of crossbow will alter the effects of a bolt hitting even plate armor. This makes the difference between a "punch in the gut" effect and death.

Great thread, Bruce! The only thing I'm wondering about is that I read somewhere that medieval crossbows could shoot accurately (Relative to the time period, of course.) up to about 250-300 yards, depending on the crossbow. Obviously certain specifications would change this distance, though. ( As in, material, type [Recurve, straight limbed, etc.] and other factors. ). I'm not trying to take a shot at you, because like I said, I love the thread, I just wanted to clear that up with someone who obviously knows their stuff.
