It was early morning when those occupants of Misthalin closest to the Wilderness wall would come upon a ghastly site. The severed heads of several party members of the Misthalite delegation dispatched to speak with Chungus Khan were mounted on pikes along the wall. It seemed as though the Khanate had declared a brutal war against the kingdom of Misthalin... All that for a pile of bricks.

The Plight of Lumbridge

Caspar briskly made his way through halls of Lumbridge Castle. With the Duchess having fled, he was seemingly left to administrate the Duchy amidst a time of such uncertainty. As he reached the front door and stepped out into the quad, he descried wagons of essential goods parading in, arranged for Caspar's own personal inspection. Although he was not officially of any status anymore - who knows what he would be under this new regime and if he would even be welcomed in the Court as before - nobody else in Lumbridge was currently of any standing or qualification to lead in equal measure to the recent Chancellor, and so the responsibility fell to him to maintain the continued rule of law and business as usual. At least, he thought, until such a time that his fate, and the fate of the Duchy, would be decided.

"The first convoy from Morytania, and the rest from port custom," announced Marchbanks, one of Caspar's right-hand men, as he approached the steps before his master.

"Very good, Marchbanks," Caspar replied, checking his ledger to see how much stock was needed. By the looks of the parade, it was not quite enough to stave off the hunger of Lumbridge's waining population, in the long-term. "This should tide us over. For now."

That evening, Caspar would sit by the fire with a flagon of ale. Beckoning to a servant for more lamp oil, he drafted a letter:

Lieges of the Realm,

I, Caspar Fredericks, officially resign from my post as Chancellor of Misthalin, and humbly extend an invitation of reception at Lumbridge Castle. As the acting custodian, I hereby surrender the territorial borders of the Duchy back to the Crown. I will continue to preside over its administration until official sanction from the Queen is given for a new Duke.
