Retired and loving it. Retired from the Dept of Corrections where I worked as a Correctional Officer. Don't ever think the reason I am peaceful is because I do not know how to be violent.
Ekki hugsa alltaf að ég sé friðsælt vegna þess að ég veit ekki hvernig á að vera ofbeldi.

Update time!

I'm still a Customer Services Supervisor with the United States Postal Service and, boy, have I learned a lot in my two years in the job. The good news is that I've found more time for RuneScape as, when I typed my initial post here, looks like I was struggling with that... haha

Edit: ooh, yeah, I also like to pretend I'm a web developer... that's my hobby. I say pretend because I've never gone to school or been trained, but I teach myself through online tutorials. I think it's cool... but ya know. RuneScape #webmeat, here I come! lol

I'm going to be a "research scientist" in about a year, exciting

That's really cool! What's your area of research?!

I'm currently finishing a PhD in computer science. My thesis is on applied algebraic topology for decision problems in distributed computing, though I got tired of working on such abstract problems in academia, so I just decided to be a research scientist at a tech company after I graduate. I have lots of freedom to decide what I want to work on there, though it'll probably be in distributed computing/concurrency, or blockchain, or some mix of them. I'm also studying data science/machine learning during my last year in the program.

That's definitely a great area of focus to be in right now - super interesting developments on the machine learning and blockchain fronts these days. Congrats!

Meanwhile I am studying the varying effects of drug classes on today's society...

For me, currently in my final semester for my BA in History with an emphasis on US history in the Early American Republic.

The thesis I'm writing for it involves the importance of the Whiskey Rebellion and how played a role in the formation of the Democratic-Republican party to oppose the Federalists.

Outside of that, I continue to be an educator....being an Assistant Scoutmaster of Administration for my scout troop that I grew up in and got my Eagle Rank with. Alongside mentoring the youth leaders in their roles, I deal with all the records, data, and scheduling, and all that fun stuff.

Wrote some tools to aide in that (like a proper attendance tracker)...alongside the CMS I made for our website system to manage everything in-house and not have anything break like it used to...
Can I turn in a paper without citing all sources?
