I'm not into tats and I abhor full body tats. I see nothing beautiful nor "better-than-Mother Nature" in tats. I find them a big turn off even if they are covered by clothing.

What I really don't understand is why get a tat on your back or backside since you can't see it. To me, it's like buying an item you really like (love), think it's beautiful and worth every bit of money you paid for it. You take it home, stuff it in a box, never to be seen again.

^ i would like to give a big response as to why people get a back tattoo or tattoos in areas they cant see. but i dont think it will help. for one my favourite tattoo is on my back.

considering you dont like tattoos at all, of course you wont understand about why people get them and the placements of them

I love love love tatts, if done well I find them beautiful and artistic. Each to their own :D

Even if I don't see the attraction in others tattoos I am happy for the people who have them as it is what they want :)

Quite different to the others you have in close proximity, would love to hear if there is a story behind it.

It's true, I don't like tats, but that doesn't mean others can't have them. To each their own. I guess my distaste for tats comes from my childhood and where I grew up. The only people who had tats were gangsters, hoodlums and criminals. Guys who were in the military got a tat reflecting their chosen branch of service.

Now, don't get me wrong, please. I'm not saying that all people nowadays who get tats are gangsters, hoodlums, and criminals. Time changes things. I just haven't moved on with the times, I guess. I admit, some tats are nice looking and very well done, especially if they are very intricate.

A guy who whose mission was to get his entire body tatted (including his nether regions) told me that the body is a canvas that needs to be filled with artwork and paintings.

Now, back to my original question: Why do people get tats in places they will never see, unless they use a mirror or have someone take a picture of it? I want to get educated.

Was in the tattoo shop other day having a chat as I took my nephew through to book a time slot.

Hadn't been there in ages and they sure have changed. So have the prices lol.

Last time I went it was £45 an hour and now it's £50 an hour. Still a bargain as the shop just around the corner is £75-£90 an hour and it's shit. I've seen their work lol.

I will be there tomorrow and I was thinking about booking mine in but still can't as still got a sore arm from the booster jab after 7 weeks. I don't want to push my luck.

the reason why i said it wont help if i gave an answer, is usually in this situation the answer is not good enough. and is never enough, because the person questioning doesnt like tattoos or doesnt understand them. so no matter what the reason that reason isnt worth the tattoo.
this isnt my first rodeo for this type of question here and in person lol. so hopefully my answer will suffice.

for one, you seem to be under the impression tattoos are to be looked at gazed at etc. that isnt the case, they are for the wearer to well wear them. no matter of placement or what it is. even that means they cant see them. because its not there to be looked at.

there are many reasons why people would get a tattoo, hundreds and thousands, so to give a singular answer to this question is impossible. as each individual tattoo is different to the next even if its exactly the same tattoo but on 2 different people the reasonings behind them are not the same. and all it really comes down to for "why get a tattoo there?" its as simple as "i wanted to"
the same reason as to why people get the back of their hair cut a certain way, they arent going to see it, but many have a preference on how the back of their hair is cut.
