Golly this is an old post lol

So an update from my last post (bottom of the 1st page) I'd have to say I'd want to go back to 1st century Capernaum. I'd probably meet a lot of people, explore, etc. If you google maps the place you'll see just how beautiful it is. Also it is a place of major historical significance.

Naturally, if you take into account the potential effects on the future due to your actions, your choices may not seem as insignificant as they originally had when they had occurred to you, but I think that plenty of people might not concern themselves too much with those effects when they are in the moment.
There are two trains of thought on what time travel would do. 1) time is immutable and anything you do will be altered. For example, go back and kill baby Adolf and someone else becomes "der fuhrer". 2) changing the past creates a new timeline, with both existing.

If its the first, you might as well do nothing but observe because nothing will change.

If it was the second, I would go back before pearl harbor and set off a surprise "attack drill" for very early in the morning. By the time everyone realized the first was a drill, everyone would be at battle stations, the ships would be powered up and manned, then the real attack would happen. Then with a parallel line we could see the difference having a full US navy would have on the war.

I'd like to go back in time when Homo Sapiens left Africa en masse to colonize the world, about 80,000 years ago. That must have been a sight to see.

Depending on what I could take with me I would probably try to knock the Chicxulub impactor off course.

Failing that, I'd go further back, much further back. 170 million years back. Life on Earth wasn't as spectacular before or since.
