What are your opinions on the use of e-scooters, and their increased uptake of usage within the covid-19 pandemic?

Should they be allowed on the roads? Would you get one for yourself? Do you even have one yourself right now? Have you ever been inconvenienced by them?

They look cool.

Here in Denmark you can only drive them on bicycle paths. Would be a bit risky for roads I think!

They are mostly good..

I gave it a go for a very short time, I found it quite scary. My boys like them.

In our country they ride them on the footpath. Not sure if they are allowed on bike lanes.

What I find wrong is that it's illegal to ride a bicycle on the footpath, even for children, but it's ok for these scooters which go at very high speeds.

Ideally car roads and roads for other vehicles such as cycling bikes and e-scooters should be separated. I don't believe roads should be shared between them.

As for my opinion on them. I don't have one, really. I have no intention of ever owning one nor do I have any interest in them.

Haven't seen any around where I live. Bicycles and jogging are the alternative modes of transportation. Our city hosts marathons so everyone seems to be in training mode all year.

What do you think of them? It's good manners to post your own opinions in a thread like this. ;)

Personally I think they're fine (and fun) if used considerately, ie not haring down a pavement full of pedestrians.

It’s not bad manners to omit placing ones own opinion in an OP if that is the OP’s choice either, particularly if they wish to see others’ opinions first and not prejudice responses that are to come ;) I’ll post mine later whilst I review others’ first if you don’t mind, knowing this is within the permitted boundaries :)

I'm very torn on them - but, I tend to lean more towards a dislike, at the moment! I think they're a great way of getting people out - and, for kids who are, perhaps, not old enough to drive, but have a job whilst they're at school, it means they could get to work easier, etc. That, and it would help people who struggle to walk far, maybe. However, I don't think they should be ridden on roads without being registered or insured: when I was at work the other day, I was driving a van down a one-way street with cars parked on both sides - only to have someone (who was quite-evidently not old enough to drive) come up the wrong way, and not even show the slightest intention of moving onto the pavement. So, I stopped in the middle of the road, and he just casually went past, like nothing was out of the ordinary - not even a nod to thank me for not running him over! Case-and-point, though: if he had scratched my vehicle, or something along those lines - how would I have proven this, if he didn't even have a registration on the scooter? Don't get me wrong - I think they're a great idea, and definitely a move in the right direction towards sustainable transport; I just think they need a little more regulation.

Keep them for cycle lanes - that's what I'd say!
I like Volvos.
