Just finished Great North Road. Nice mystery book, couldn't figure out who was the alien until the last 150 pages. Now I'm on page 36 of The Rift Coda. Brought back The Uploaded by Ferrett Steinmetz and Chasing the Moon by A. Lee Martinez. Won't be picking up books next weekend.

Epic News, the Final Book in the Star Carrier series is coming, I'm super pumped:

The last installment in the Star Carrier series, where first contact, space opera, and military adventure combine, from New York Times bestselling author Ian Douglas!

Will this be the end?

Or a new beginning…

Having battled aliens to prove humanity’s worth as a star-faring species, Admiral Trevor Gray has a new mission: follow the directives of the super-AI Konstantin and lead the star carrier America on a mission through time and space to determine if humanity can truly transcend into Singularity… and avoid the pitfalls that have plagued so many of the aliens Earth has encountered since it gained faster-than-light travel.

But there are those out there who don’t want an answer, who wish to maintain their own power with the status quo. Beyond the dangers of star travel, Gray must contend with politicians looking to end the influence of artificial intelligence on human decisions, a secret fleet out to destroy him, hostile aliens, and the vast, uncharted space full of clues but short on answers.

A species must evolve to survive into the future. But that species must have a vision of the future. Gray hopes to find that vision for humanity…800,000 years in the past.

Paperback, 384 pages
Expected publication: December 1st 2020 by Harper Voyager

I'm trying to avoid ordering or preordering books due to the COVID, but for Ian Douglas? In 3 weeks I'm 100% preordering this book. This author doesn't disappoint. Without a doubt some of the best news I've heard bookwise for a while.

Just finished Superhuman Nature and The Fermi Paradox by Brandon Overall. Interesting two story arc, the two protagonists are given superhuman powers in a story arc that is not likely to continue in a third book with the way it ended. Now I'm still reading Semper Mars. My copy not only looks like a book made in 1998, it still smells like it was made in 1998. Surprised the bookstore still had all the books in stock back when I ordered them last year.

Just finished Star Corps. Interesting universe without FTL introduced yet, they use antimatter plasma torch drives to travel just under light speed. Marines in Space is definitely behind technologically compared to the Star Carrier series. Noticed a few spelling errors regarding one of the character's grandmother and the fact that a motivating factor seemed to be retconned. Now I'm reading Battlespace.

Just finished Star Strike. Now I'm reading Galactic Corps. After Galactic Corps I will be finishing off Peter F. Hamilton's A Night Without Stars and then I need some nice escapism and a break from Military Science Fiction with the Wilde & Chase books.
