Yup, had this drilled into my my whole life. I'd never wear shoes inside my own home, but ESPECIALLY not anyone else's.

Typical boomer born right after the era where my parents suffered the solitude of WWII, deprivation of the Great Depression while I never had to suffer jack or risk a thing.

Growing up I always wore my shoes, unless mom said otherwise!
But now, I always take mine off. I don't mind either way when I have guests, their choice here!
