I was hopeful for the UQ, QIMR Clive Berghofer, et al, vaccine but recent news about false positives of HIV has made me very wary of taking any COVID-19 vaccine.
I am a vulnerable person and the last thing I would like to happen is to become ill from something that is trying to protect me and the population. :/ The false positives are being caused by certain clamping proteins used in the vaccine that were derived from the HIV virus.
This kind of false positive happens in anti-virus software, and generally it isn't something to worry about. The tests are simply hitting on a particular search string.
In that respect, the vaccine shouldn't pose a threat.
However, my concern lies with producing billions of doses of vaccine, without having cross contamination occurring somewhere along the line, tainting the vaccines with HIV, and then dismissing the results of a actual positive HIV tests, believing they are false positive caused by the vaccine.
Theoretically, the vaccine should not present an issue with causing HIV. However, human error along the way could present a serious health concern, considering the source required for the clamping proteins.
However, from what I've read, they're not planning on manufacturing that specific vaccine, unless it is absolutely needed. I'm better than you, but that doesn't mean you're not great!
