I've discovered there is some financial support for people who have been asked to self to isolate through the track and trace system. It might only apply to people on low wages, I haven't read through it.
I've also seen a news report on the BBC site about training dogs to detect the distinctive smell of Covid-19. Positive reactions by the dogs are checked with a PCR test. It looks like it

Ultimately, Covid is likely here to stay and through the use of vaccines that we now have, we can decrease the risk of Covid to us.
