I got a text from my GP Surgery with a link to a site to book the slot. (Jotform).
I didn't do this booking via the phone, I did it from my PC as this has got better protections on it (just in case). I knew this was the way it would be done as my Surgery website has a notice on it telling Patients on exactly how it'll work.
It doesn't surprise me that there are scammer scum out there trying to deceive and rob people.
It's the world we live in now.
It doesn't surprise me that scammers have jumped at the chance to use vaccinations for their own gain.
I don't know how they can sleep at night. I assume they have no conscience.
This article, you can only read part of it in the link provided. Once I got to the bottom it said you need click another link to read the rest, so I did and it didn't take me there, it wanted me to click another link and I just couldn't be bothered - so it's up to you if you want to read the full article.
If it works the same way as similar scam e-mails, you'd click the link and it'd take you to a non-official site.
They'd require you to enter all sorts of personal details, including your financial details, so that the cost of the vaccine can be charged to your bank account. Which they will then empty.
Sadly people do actually fall for this crap. Mostly elderly, those with learning difficulties, people who don't read English very well and so on.
Also, although vaccination here is free I guess there are some people wishing to jump the queue and think they can pay for it and get it faster. Wrong!
I read that soon after the first vaccine was approved for use in the UK various private clinics were being contacted by people offering to pay thousands of pounds to jump the queue. They weren't successful. The vaccines are only available through the NHS.

How will these emails make money out of it??
many many many ways
pretending to offer the vaccine, just transfer x amount of money to this account to get your vaccine!!!
then nothing happens.. except the scammers make money and you lose out
pretending to be the NHS or another company that deals with the vaccine (if from different country not uk)
being sent to a website that looks like the NHS website (or another company) then you create account put in your details, now the scammer has your details.
thats just two ways they can scam people. there are many many other ways. these are just the most basic.

Aren't the vaccines free?? If so you'd think most people would know this...
Yes, the covid vaccine is free for all adults in the UK. We're being invited in batches according to which group we're in ( age and underlying health conditions decide which group you're part of ). As Fifi said, some may not know the Covid jab is free due to communication problems. Also, because the flu jab can be paid for at pharmacies if you aren't in the categories that get offered it for free, some may think the Covid jab works the same way.
