Spare me the guilt trip,

no thats what you need is the guilt trip. if everyone wore a mask, the amount of deaths we would have now would be lower

YOU ARE THE CAUSE OF THAT

due to your selfish behaviour.

He thought he was invincible too, and that Coivd was bullshit :)

Hopefully before diagnosis he didn't pass it on to someone's parents or someone's child, eh?

....And you check the statistics of what influenza normally accounts to each year, you'll likely see a much greater number die from that. Yet we haven't shut down entire economies for that.

The fact that people die from other things doesn't make it ok to ignore Covid warnings.
More people have already died from Coronavirus than typically die from Flu in an average year.

There's a lot of reasons why Covid is worse here (and many other sources):
https://www.healthline.com/health-news/why-covid-19-isnt-the-flu#Many-unknowns-about-COVID-19

That article also mentions one very important fact - Flu vaccines exist. At the moment there's no fully tried-and-tested Covid vaccine.
Who's the cat that won't cop out when there's danger all about?

Spare me the guilt trip, it was announced long ago that extra measures should be put in place for the vulnerable, ie; the young & elderly.

If that had been the case instead of putting everyone through this, I'm sure many more would be on board with your mask wearing.

Yet taking livelihoods away from those in the prime age for saving for their retirement is nothing more than stupidity.

Spare me the empty rhetoric and feeble excuses. You do realise that not all parents are "elderly", yes? And that an adult "child" is still someone's dearly loved and cherished offspring, yes?

As for those working in their 'prime age' ... here we need to work until age 66-68 before being eligible for State Pension. The vast majority rely on this to supplement any private pensions they have saved for. Those in their 60's are far more vulnerable to the impact of Covid than those in their 20s but are still required to work.

Livelihoods have not been removed in the vast, vast majority of cases. Retail is still operating, transport, construction, teaching, policing, healthcare, the entertainment industry, offices and home working etc. etc. - all still functioning and paying their staff.

No thanks to the selfish A-holes who refuse to wear a mask for the benefit of society because they have let their addled brains soak up the conspiracy theories touted by a small number of anti-establishment megalomaniacs.

Not that I disagree, but where I am a whole bunch of shops are boarded up and homelessness has gone through the roof.
It will take a while for us to fully appreciate the impact this has had, right or wrong.

Do take into account most businesses run at a profit margin of no more than 10%.

So with this year off, it'll take these businesses 10 years to catch up.

I don't think FiFi LaFeles has ever owned or operated a businesses however.

Cigarettes are still on the shelves.

You want masks to be mandated, take the cigarettes off the shelves first which dramatically lower a person's immune system.

Yeah Johnson & Johnson have such a positive past history though, I'm sure many will put their faith into what they have to offer.

^ The point I was trying to make is that, whilst the impact on the economy is definitely not going to be - erm - good, we wont really know the full extent of the damage for quite a while.

Your 'most businesses run at a profit margin of no more than 10%' is - lets say - rather hard to accept. But that's irrelevant in context, since we don't know how long this will go on for.
'Recovery times' only make sense for those that survive and we're not in a position to guess how many businesses will.
As it happens, I don't think your '10 years to catch up' is that unreasonable as an estimate, given what we currently know.

So we're allowed to post news articles now?

Why was the one I posted removed ever so quickly?

Because fake news has no place on here on the forums
