Lastnight while checking my Gooseberries I saw a ripe 1 that I'd been watching for a week ready to pick that night and try it.

Looked at it and half of it was gone. Something had snagged half of it lol. I suspect a Blackbird as they have been hanging around the garden for a while as they had a nest in a shrub nearby.

I did get 1 though this morning that was nearly rip and was so juicy and yummy. Just a shame theres only 12-15 and not enough for a pie. Maybe next year there will be loads more.

Lucky Blackbird though had first try.....

Thanks to the recent rain we have had, my okra, green beans, squashes, tomatoes, peppers, melons, and pumpkins are going wild. Spent most of the morning picking okra, peppers, tomatoes, and green beans.

Plan on having a mess of fresh green beans with new red potatoes, bacon, and onions tomorrow with some fried okra.

Got the perfect revenge against a problematic neighbor with my one of my gardens. Planted the seeds for a fall garden, and fertilized with a mix of liquid fish meal, and farm sludge. They where at my fence throwing a massive hissy fit about the horrid smell, and why couldn't I be like a normal person and buy my vegetables from the store.

That is awesome.

I didn't start my garden this year. I wanted to do a "salsa garden" - Peppers, Tomatoes, Garlic, Cilantro, Onion, etc...

Now in the front where I grow flowers, my roses and zinnia's are booming.

We've just been given a hosepipe ban, of course, happens every year thanks to the water companies not having invested in their infrastructure for decades.

Despite this, the garden is looking pretty ok, Roses are seriously good this year but all the clematis are struggling for whatever reason.

I'm getting a bit old and creaky now and the multi-level garden is becoming challenging so I'll be toying with schemes for scaling back the amount of effort I have to make. Tricky, given our rubbish clay and flint soil and the increasing-by-the-year shade thrown by the unmanaged woodland on two sides :(

got my first harvest of sweet corn from my garden today. Tried a different route this year with some of my veg. Used the three sisters method for my corn, some of my squash and beans. Will definantly be using that method again next year if I am still around. Don't ever think the reason I am peaceful is because I do not know how to be violent.

had way to many green tomatoes on my plants. So I picked most of them and enjoying fresh fried green tomatoes. Don't ever think the reason I am peaceful is because I do not know how to be violent.

Your garden must look lovely! Do you dig up the dahlias in the autumn and store them somewhere cool and dry? That's one thing that puts me off trying to grow them. The rose is a really nice colour and the lilies look amazing. I don't recognise the purple flowers, they look like they are grown from a bulb.

Nope. I dug up 90% of my dahlias a few years abck and lost every 1 of them. I was gutted.

All I do is leave them in the ground. If they live they live. So far leaving them in the ground and tubs I've lost none.

Yes the purple things are from bulbs and I have no idea what they are. They were as big as a pea and when they seed I grab the seeds and scatter them all over my beds. Had 3-4 few years back and now have about 30-40. Be digging them up soon and putting them all in 2-3 tubs so I know where they all are for next year.
