I was listening to the "godmothers and godfathers" of Rock n' Roll the other day. Many transitioned from Blues to Rock, mixing it with Gospel, Funk or even Latin rythms: Chuck Berry, Big Mama Thornton (amazing voice), Bill Haley, Sister Rosetta Tharpe (presumably the first female blues/rock guitarist to achieve recognition) and Ritchie Valens (a shame he died so young)
Sure it has been a long way from these people to bands like ZZ Top, Guns n' Roses or Jethro Tull. Amazing to think about the diversity of bands that have spawned in the last 70 years.
Now I'm stuck with 80's Rock/Heavy Power Ballads, mostly W.A.S.P ("Hold On To My Heart" gotta be the definition of 80's), Chrissy Steele (very underrated, in my opinion), Warrant, Bon Jovi, Doro Pesch, Ratt and Vixen.
