The Rolling Stones are legendary when it comes to Rock & Roll music. Although if I had to pick a name and when reading the question Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and The Beatles comes to mind.

* Goes to his Spotify playlist and start browsing through some Rock & roll oldies *

My "Old School" Rock Band of the Day:
The Who

Fast forwarding just a touch for:
System of a Down

...and just a touch more for:
Shinedown

... that's just three of many I could put down from my playlists....

Interested to see others' picks so maybe I can add to my collection!

The Boomtown Rats.

I don't like Mondays.

1 of my all time fav songs ever.

I had the single and played it that much I wore it out. Still have it somewhere.

Another 1 that just came to me.

Madness.

I like all of these musicians and bands your talking about because I'm old school.

Elvis was great and you cant go past the Beatles.

The Who were so outrageous, I've been checking them out on YouTube.

I also like The Boomtown Rats, and that song.

Yep, The Stones and The Who are legends and massively influential - listen to some of The Who's early stuff and you can see the roots of Punk Rock long before it came about. Just listen to "My Generation" for example.

Led Zeppelin are another favourite, though probably not classed as "typical" Rock & Roll... Rock for sure though.
They even did a song called Rock & Roll:

The one's already named were the greatest, no doubt, and I loved them all.

There were a lot of great artists in the 50's like Buddy Holly, Little Richard, Dion and The Belmonts, Nat King Cole, Frankie Avalon, Ray Charles just to name a few. Some of these artists made it into the 60's era.

More recent, I'd add Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Doors and The Kinks. The Monkeys wasn't one of my favorites, but they had some good songs.
