As for the people who get irritated or irrationally angry when offering food and water - that's kind of weird. Have you ever sat down with them and just tried to get to know them on a friendship level?


I've tried talking to them a few times. They look at me suspiciously, which I can understand. I'm a friendly person and easy to approach. I kept the conversation light, didn't try to prod too much. The conversations where more one sided...my side.

One day, I approached them at the gas station and asked if there was anything they needed. One told me to f**k off. They other said, "We didn't invite you into our space and we certainly don't need your charity. So, go peddle your "Nice Guy" attitude someplace else. And as far as you trying to be nice and talking to us... Dont! ." My response was, "I apologize if I stuck my nose where it didn't belong. I meant no harm. I was trying to be friendly and make sure you had your needs taken care of. That's all." The first one said, "We take care of ourselves just fine. We don't need you or anybody else so leave before I call the cops because of harassment. Good...Bye." Of course, I left peacefully.

A couple weeks later, I saw them at the gas station and waved to them. Both gave me the finger.

What if we had affordable state housing like those pods you see in Japan?

@Sage, pride makes people mean spirited. I'd say you did the right thing though, as for them well.... It's just pointless to be that way. Just can't win with some folks, no matter how much patience is shown they'll still cause you to fall into trouble even though you've technically done nothing wrong. Speaking from experience on that one.

@SLR It would be great to see those in big cities with a sky-high homeless population. The problem is some folks choose to be homeless and live off of other folks charity. I mean life is easier if everything is free.

if they are happy doing that, whats the problem?

some people do live a life of being as minimalistic as possible.

we cant judge them for that, not our place to.

really it comes down to are they hurting anyone doing this? if no then whats the problem?

That is just about as crass a statement I have seen for some time - shameful privileged armchair observation!

You need to take a walk around the poor areas of Mumbai (Bombay) or Kolkata (Calcutta) but be prepare to be shocked to the core with tears in your eyes.

@Top Brass show me where I'm wrong that some people choose to be homeless because it's easier. Thing number two I was in Skid Row, Los Angeles.

Number three, you don't know me, you have never been around me so don't you dare make a back handed comment against my personality, character, or integrity as if I'm ignorant or don't empathize or have sympathy.

This is my final thing to say. It's on my list of things to do in life to go to Africa and do humanitarian work as well as missions.

Now. Since my defense has been made I have a question.
What have you done? Where have you been?
