Still got a Roller Ball mouse hanging round someplace.

These mice needed regular cleaning, The little rubber ball would pick up every bit of crap within 20 metres. You need to take the ball out and clean in alcohol every now and again. The 2 little roller bearings the ball acted on became encrusted with, what I can only assume was, the crap mentioned before together with a sludge of human grease that had become hardened to a cement like strength.
The only time I can safely say 'I'm glad the ball are gone'.

I remember having to do that, so gross :P

I've used wired, wireless, and ball.

Hated the ball because of all the lint, body grease, dog hair it picked up. It got to be a pain in the arse.

Wireless was OK, but it seemed the battery would go out at the most inopportune times. I'd stock up on batteries, but got to thinking...I bought the mouse and am still spending money on it for the batteries. It almost felt like a penalty for going wireless.

Long time ago I had read that was a slight lag time (milliseconds?) between the movement and the action. Doesn't seem like much, but users of wired mouses said that the lag can be an issue when fighting high level monsters, PvP, escapes/run and hide situations. Personally, I never found that to be a problem.

I went back to wired...no batteries to worry about, faster action O_o maybe? I don't know. Anyway, I use wired and won't go back. Personal preference. The only problem I have is there is a bit hanging the keyboard pull out drawer(?) pull out desk(?) whatever it's called. My dog likes to sit under the desk and he gets tangled in the wire. Same problem with my keyboard. If he (thinks) he hears something outside, he'll make a beeline for the back door, gets tangled in the wires and there goes the keyboard and mouse.

BTW, mouse do float. Everyone I trapped I flush down the commode. "It floats!" (said the clown from Steven Kings It )

I used to prefer wired mainly because I didn't want to have to keep recharging, but my new wireless takes an hour to charge then literally lasts weeks and weeks (Logitech MX Master 4).

Best mouse I've ever owned, just the right weight and so comfortable.

I use a very cheap and simple Logitech M185 invicible optic- single rechargeable AA battery lasts for 4-5-6 months - it has an on/off switch that I never use and has been going about 4-5 years so far. O_o (Hope that wasn't tempting fate)

I use the Logitech MX Vertical. Bit pricey, but really great mouse in my opinion. Uses an internal rechargeable battery, that recharges by usb port. Battery lasts a long time too. And nice on the wrist as well. Leader of The Enemy ||

I found using rechargeables in my mice don't seem to last long at all.

I only use Duracell in my mice as they seem to last the longest and no leaking wrecking my mouse or keyboard. Last thing I need is a leaking battery.

I do have Duracell rechargables and they cost a fortune. Just can't get the lifespan out of them before they die.
