I think I liked Episode 5 the most so far. Some absolutely brilliant acting from Seth and JDM.

Because I
finally
got something I've been wanting for a year.
That thing is...Negan's backstory.

Having some idea of what Negan believes in, what motivates him, his tolerances and his weaknesses...has finally made this story arc a heck of a lot more interesting.

Before this episode, he felt like a plot device...someone the writers had shoehorned in simply because they
had to
have an opponent for Rick.
Now Negan feels more like an actual character.

And because he has character, it is easier to understand why the Saviours (and the workers) are following him.

That also makes it easier to understand just how tough a fight Rick is going to have.

I really really really hope his visit to the Scavengers turns out to be part of some super-cunning secret plan.
Though maybe I shouldn't hope for that much. Rick 's strategic abilities seem to be rather average.

And since I seem to be keeping score...I'm adding Daryl to the list of Traumatised Crazy People who desperately need help.

Argh :@

Episode 6 was a bit of a mixed bag for me. I'm still not entirely sure there was even any plot progress in this one.

Rick continues to irritate the heck out of me. Trying to involve the Looney-Bin people in whatever crazy, stupid plan he had...
I'm going to stop the (what would probably be a very long-winded) rant right there.
But Rick...you are
not
invulnerable!

I did like the bit with Carl and Siddiq.
And the bit with Carol and Ezekiel.

Was happy to see Michonne and Rosita again, even if they did get the silly part.

I've got no idea what is going to happen with Maggie, Jesus, Gregory and the prisoners...so eagerly awaiting that.

I'm intrigued by the team-up of Aaron and Enid, despite having no idea if it could go really well or really badly.
Where are they going?
Trying to recruit Oceania again?
Combing the woods for Morgan?
Looking for someone else?

I hope the pace kind of picks up a little bit. I'd like this dreary War to end.

This season's been awful so far, so boring and repetitive.

I was hoping for something spectacular in the mid-season finale last night... and although there was one shock, it was still a dull (and confusing) episode.

And yet again there was
...a Rick and Negan face-off that went nowhere. They need to have a proper, final confrontation so we can move on from this story, it's been dragged out too long.
Who's the cat that won't cop out when there's danger all about?

You're watching a TV series about...zombies.

I mean, the cliches are over-done to death.

"Look out, there's a pack of zombies trying to eat our brains, run for your lives!"

They use that as a motif for the induced drama that everyone eats up.
This is what people aren't getting. Some ******* "coder" releases OSBuddy or some other "helper client", people get hyped because they're stupid like sheep, and then down the road once the "helper client" has a ton of downloads he releases an "update" to hijack everyone.

It's not even about zombies any more though. They are more background than anything at this point. It's more about humans vs humans - the zombies are just "there".

I don't really like zombie-based shows at all but TWD hooked me because it is more than just a typical zombie show. But after 8 seasons, quality is bound to drop as it does with most shows. It's still good and watchable, just not as good as before.

I just said that. :|

I mean, don't you find the whole thing formulaic?
