I'm not a football fan but even I can see the superleague is a very bad idea. So the original founding teams never lose their place in the league no matter how badly they play? Ridiculous!
If all the fans stayed away from the games and didn't even watch them on the TV would they still make money? Not that everyone would do that, some are bound to give in and watch.
I'm not a fan of the concept, but strictly speaking I don't see anything in the proposed super league that conflicts with uefa rules. However we all know that clubs are going to focus their energy on whichever tournament pays the most money, which means the regular champions league will take second place.
As for the eyeballs and money, the American market is supposedly going to love the concept and an American bank invested 3.5 billion euro in it. Even if we could get Europeans and Americans to boycott it, what about China?

I don't think they had much choice, the backlash was huge and from all corners - the fans, FIFA, some players, etc.
I just hope they haven't signed any contracts that they could be found in breach of.
Who's the cat that won't cop out when there's danger all about?
It looks like there's going to be a problem with the clubs wanting to leave the European super league. They signed contracts.
This BBC article has more information for anyone interested ( I just read the first little bit )
