So, my dog took herself for a walk last night after I didnt lock my gate having a boiler installed.

She walked her normal route and thankfully after going after her in my pyjamas and slippers she trotted right on back to me. Love dogs, and lesson well learned :D :D

So since I have coworkers on my Facebook and don't know what subreddit to put this on, I decided to write this here.

I told my employer for my salary review that I needed time a lot more than money. The salary review happened and I received a promotion and a 16% raise to my base salary, quarterly company performance bonus and an 80 hour biweekly schedule that lets me choose when to work those hours more or less.

They also said that if I needed to work part-time to let them know. I gave them a ton of options and they just threw a lot of money at me even when I said that money isn't my primary motivation. My kid is nearing school age and I did forward my school's schedule to my boss and explained how my husband works long 12 hour shifts, so I will be on my own for drop offs and pick ups often. They are adverse to longterm remote plans, but said that they will work with me if I need to be remote.

So I received a lot of unclear answers and I am just not sure how to move forward. I am going to write up a proposal for a schedule next week, but how ballsy should I be with it? (I can absolutely live off my husband's income comfortably, but I finally got the IT part of my job formally recognized and it is a huge step in the right direction for my end career goal).

How ballsy was everyone else with their salary negotiations?
And I swear I'm not going to let her know all the pain I have known

Couldn't get the link to work, but haha that story is cute af. Not a huge dog person, but I am going to get a Siberian Husky puppy this Thursday and I am sure there are a ton of lessons I am going to need to learn lmao.

Well, always ask for more than you're prepared to settle for .... but I'm sure you know that.

To be honest I worked mainly for large organisations who had clearly defined employee 'grades' with set salaries for the grade so no wiggle room there apart from citing examples of why I'd worked better than the herd and so deserved a one-off annual bonus and/or promotion to a higher grade.

Other employers I'd just ask for something I knew was too high plus other benefits then haggle down to something we both felt victorious in receiving/giving.

Your employers sound as though they are keen to retain your services so in your shoes I'd ask for everything you truly want/need, add a little bit, and see how the wind blows.

The worst thing that can happen is they'll say No to a few items on your wish list and maybe think you drive a hard bargain or are pushy (depending on their outlook on life). But it's true what they say "If you don't ask - you don't get".

Good luck! :)

Excited for you that you're getting a puppy! I'm one year out of the joys of little puddles on the floor and destroyed footwear. (Well, not entirely, she's a Terrier so still chews everything and probably always will while she's got a viable tooth in her head).

Never had a Husky but I've heard they are even-tempered and good with kids (this from a lady I used to meet regularly some years ago when I was out walking) and are high-energy. Fairly obvious since they are a 'working' breed. Hers was one of the (not uncommon for the breed) vocal dogs - the noises that came out of it while it chatted and sang to her were bizarre! He was always gentle and charming when meeting my yapping, warring, motely crew of thugs.

Have fun with the Spring shedding :O

They made a position for me that was previously understood to "never be a possibility". And, I have pushed for everything from remote work to extra vacation to part time. I now have a schedule where I just have to work 80 hours in the 14 days with a lot of flexibility. I don't know how much more I can push or if I should just wait for next year's review. The raise was also significant.

And haha, we should share puppy pictures! I'm actually a cat person, but the neighborhood break-ins and my kid have influenced me to get a little puppy instead.
