I used to worry about that too years ago, quite a lot. As I got older I began to think, and still do think, well if my home doesn't live up to their exacting standards they are very welcome to not come back
After all it is your home, where you live, and unless it's in a state bad enough to be injurious to health, then it's no one else's place to judge you because it's a bit untidy or --God Forbid!!! -- there's some dust on the shelves.

Are you going to re-home them, or tough it out for the next couple of years?
I'm slightly allergic to birds, apparently (sneezing) so I can't have cushions or pillows stuffed with feathers. I wouldn't anyway because the manmade fillings are more comfortable (I think anyway).

We had to get rid of my pet guinea pig when I was 11 or 12 because I contracted salmonella from it - apparently they can be carriers - and I was in the hospital for a month
