I actually think there's no 'friendship' involved at all. I believe that some people know how to read the Rules and comply with them - and some do not. Or cannot. Or will not. Or think they are soooo special that the Rules do not/should not apply to them.

That's when they keep pulling reprimands/penalties. Ignorance or arrogance. Maybe both.
Perhaps it's resentment towards anyone perceived to have 'authority' that makes them so bolshie. So instead of looking at their own behaviours, they cry favouritism and bias. Anything but admit they are the architects of their own failures, they become bitter and twisted and blame everyone else.

I agree with Averia Light. The Rules back in the day were a bloody nightmare imo; I didn't know anyone on Forums who hadn't enjoyed 'a holiday' from time to time, me included.

The Mods back then (including the ones that are still here with us now) were much starchier and remote. At least these days one can actually relax and have a chat or share a joke with them.

But hey-ho.

Kids these days don't know how good they have it.

Back in the old days, we had to try to identify who is and who isn't a troll.

The trolls in the old days were handled promptly - threads were looked after promptly. There were a huge amount of trolls back then, the fmods did a good job removing the most of them now just a handful remain - ones that I know of. These ones are friends with moderators so have more privileges and get away with huge amount of stuff.

No they weren't. The moderation back then was much more strict and caused pretty much everyone to have some sort of moderation action against them. The moderation of today is pretty much the result of several push backs from the community.

And, the volume of threads meant a lot of threads went completely unchecked. Idk what forums you were using, but they were not these. You would be banned a long time ago in the "good old days". I am surprised I am not banned, tbh.

Of course, we could have different definitions for when the "good old days" were.
Things were more consistent then though. Now f mods pick and choose which comments or threads are not okay based on their personal views of the person posting. I don't think anyone is naive enough to say otherwise.

It was consistent in that everyone was hit with some violation, the differential treatment was found when there was just too much volume so threads went unmonitored.

I guess if you like that consistency, then ok, but getting moderated for asinine reasons is probably not what most want.
And I swear I'm not going to let her know all the pain I have known

Lmao, good one - that explains why two people can act the same way/post the same thing and receive completely different treatments! I'll allow you to stay out from under your bridge for the remainder of the day but you'll need to hobble back under as soon as the day is over.

Nice strawman. You can want consistency without it being how it was. Just takes decent f mods. Although I don't think anyone is naive enough or ignorant enough to suggest that the fmods are consistent or unbiased

And there we have it.

Someone who is so snarky at all times to every post by every poster is bound to slip and trip in their own puddle of bile and break forum rules in their unceasing efforts to be .... universally nasty.

I feel a little bit sorry for people like that; the acid eating at their innards must be far more painful for them than it is to witness on a public forum.

Is it a deep-seated sense of inadequacy which drives them, I wonder? Jealousy, maybe. Or that strange phenomenon which so many (especially the young) seem to exhibit these days - a sense of utter self-entitlement. One can only marvel at it.

It's taken me a while to reach a conclusion (as I do like to cogitate on things) but I think it's for the best to ignore (insofar as is possible) the petulant dummy-spitting of socially underperforming boors.

Except we were quite literally discussing the "good old days".

for him/her.

The only one that turned it snarly and nasty was you. You were the only one who used venom in your words towards poster/s. Post 5.
