Hahaha, I mean, fair point.
It was a thread-hijacking post trying to appeal a ban, if it's any consolation. Which, due to being RS related, I believe makes it off-topic for Off-Topic, as it's quite ON topic.
... I feel like that made more sense in my head... Community Manager for Jagex

Using blanket terms like "off-topic post" doesn't always go over well with the community. Especially if it's being over used. If you're using it in places where it is literally impossible to make an off-topic post... you know? lol.
People do take an interest in the posts that are hidden. They like to know that they're not missing something.
If you're hiding it because they posted their email, just say that.
If they're trying to appeal a ban, well, you don't need to hide that, you can just direct them somewhere appropriate, such as the Community Support section of the forums. It's not going to derail a chat thread, and others who see it may have advice for the user as well.
Just some friendly advice.
