Not sure if this was directed at me or Jack. My only gripe about using Python for an engine would be paying the time cost of running through the emulator. Although, if you really wanted to, you could use Cython to get around it (and you could address type safety).
I don't think there would be a very significant difference between how you'd design something like that in Python or any other language that supports objects.
About that Dark/Fairy Pokemon idea I thought of. I'm not much of a sketcher and I haven't thought of names, but I can see it as a chibi vampire kind of design with a Gothic dress type getup, with its hands making a heart shape in front of its chest. It evolves twice, with a different final evolution for males and females as well as Pokedex entries, and stat differences. Here they are:
First evo:
"It will skip happily towards people and kiss them sweetly. But this is a ruse; the kiss actually drains life energy."
Second evo:
"The spirit of a lonely child has infused this Pokemon. It tries to recreate its parents using the life force of adults."
Final evo (male):
"Father and child reunite. A troubled past leads the father to drain more life energy to create a friend for the child to play with."
Final evo (female):
"Maternal instincts kick in as the mother seeks more life energy to nourish and protect her reunited child."
And battle prowess...
ABILITY: Love Punch.
Attacks have 30% chance of Attracting the opponent.
I'm thinking of making the second evolution so that the defences aren't that much lower than the final evos, so it can be run with the Eviolite. Its attack power I'm thinking of making in the late 50s or early 60s, but it won't be anywhere near as fast. The speed jump for the final will be roughly 70 from the middle evolution.
EDIT: Changed Sp.Def to round total stats up to 510.

Thanks for the review though.
I might rethink the design, but I figured that this would capture both the Dark side and the cutesy Fairy side, as well as providing a decent backstory. And its high Speed and Kiss of Aegis ability I thought up would be useful to mix up with Substitute, and it has to have Lovely Kiss thrown in there as well as Sweet Kiss, and a Dark move like Foul Play.
