While I was browsing the tea isle in Mitsuwa a woman came in and let her "service" dog sniff and rummage through the bottom rack. An employee came over to request that she control her dog, to which she replied, "It's okay, she's a service animal", evidently anticipating a different question. I was a little incensed by her attitude and how unhygienic letting a dog roam around inside a grocery store is, but then she asked me a question about matcha and I noticed she had a facial disfigurement that left one of her eyes lazy and set lower than the other, so I kept quiet about Fido even though it was obvious this woman was neither physically nor mentally impaired.
It boggles the mind how people here think it's acceptable to bring dogs into grocery stores but retailers fear disability lawsuits too much to challenge fake service animals.
