Nothing strange about it at all - the first in Utah was just an art installation that wasn't taken down.

Something similar happened when I studied architecture at university in the UK - as part of one of our art classes we were taken into the fields of SE England to make 'totems' out of natural materials. A couple of days later they appeared in local newspapers, because walkers had found them and were convinced that they were evidence of local witchcraft rituals....

Turns out they're by 'The Most Famous Artist' collective of Santa Fe. Behind the scenes photos have been posted as proof by the groups founder, Matty Mo, on Twitter (@morewoke).
