With every episode of the Attack On titan It shows Psychological Issues between there comrades and Friends. That's what I like, it teaches you something. It is the same with other anime. Like Aku no Hana, why does sieki forgive him or why does nakamura want kasuga to be deviant so Badly.

Except SnK doesn't focus on the character's mentality, it isn't a psychological anime. The manga is published in a shounen magazine, so of course the story will be focused on action and simple shock factor. Not so say we aren't given ANY insight to characters thoughts but it'd be ridiculous to compare this to say, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Infinite Ryvius, Bokurano, Serial Experiments Lain, Boogiepop Phantom, Perfect Blue, etc.

What, it's "simple shock factor" that beings who nearly wiped out humanity easily prey upon inexperienced soldiers, none of whom had any actual combat experience and were fighting at a disadvantage? Would you rather that these superpredators never catch a single human and be struck down with ease? Of all the cadets, only Eren, Mikasa, Annie, Bert, and Reiner had encountered actual titans before enlisting, and those who had not were endowed with a false sense of confidence ("Let's see who can kill feed the most titans&quot ;) . None of their training could have possibly prepared them to just go out and kick ass, and had that happened it would have required an absurd suspension of disbelief.

Also, while the show is hardly a psychological thriller, don't discount its secondary character development. Yes, Eren is a generic protagonist. Yes, Mikasa is fairly one-dimensional, regardless of her tragic backstory. However, so far Armin and Jean - who is a foil for Eren (idealism vs. cynicism and realism), not a "generic rival" - have been given a good deal of character development, and as more episodes are released, so will other characters.

SnK is hardly the best show I've ever seen, but it seems to attract of a lot unfair criticism.

That's because the show attracts a lot of unfair praise too. There needs to be somebody to counterbalance all the hype. It's already the 8th highest rated anime on MAL for some reason. I'm not saying the show is bad either, a rating of 6/10 might seem low to people but it isn't to me. My mean score is 5.77 and a 6 rating is pretty much my average score. I probably could give it a 7, but all the fanboyism subconsciously detracts from my enjoyment.

Everybody just seemingly boards the hype train thoughtlessly . Every time I read a review for it all people ever say is how the story and action is so epic, the animation is so great, and how they just love all the characters. Hardly anybody points out specific details on why they think it's the best thing since sliced bread.

To prove my point that people just watch it for action and shock factor - I assume we've seen the latest episode right? It was a break in the action, and mainly focused on Armin's turmoil. Well the mean score for the show actually dropped a tad after that episode. I never said that I expected the soldiers to just take down all the titans easily with no casualties, and I'm not saying the shock factor itself is a bad thing either. It's a bad thing that people only watch it for that reason though.

Once again, I'd like to reiterate that I do not think the show is bad. I find that it is simply just average-good.

I could just as easily criticize every other show airing this season. So don't think that I'm unjustly attacking SnK just to sound cool, be a "hipster" or anythying.

Yeah, marathoning Baccano!, I like it. Great show, I really like the time period it's set in too. Claire Stanfield is just too bad ass for anyone.

finished...want to do the specials but its 7am in the morning i need to go to bed 10/10 my new number 1 anime great character cast lots of action and the 1st anime to ever have me in tears of laughter thanks to isaac and miria.

see if i still keep it at number 1 after fanboy mode wears off

Just started watching Attack on Titan

The art is good and all but the Titan's ridiculous power just makes me hate it more and more and nothing gets explained because the characters don't and can't find anything out about them, i've almost watched an entire season

Damn I'm looking forward to this. Really should learn to control my facial expressions when watching trailers for things I'm looking forward to, people already think I look like a serial killer, the crazy grin doesn't help...
