I just finished watching Sword Art Online series today. It was not the best anime of 2012 that I've watched, but I can say it was a fun anime for sure.
The series has its fair share of fans and critics, but I will only recommend this anime for people that have actual experience of playing an MMORPG.....As non-MMO people will never appreciate the aspects of the series that was based heavily on the mechanics of a real MMO.

Anyhow, although Sword Art Online and Accel World are written by the same author and do include Sci-Fi core, the stories are very different.
if you weren't a huge fan of SAO, or if you were, I strongly suggest you to check out Accel World, it is a good watch.
Note: The MC in Accel World is short and fat, hope you won't be bugged by that.
