@ Raizen and Revive,
After watching the first season of Accel world, I don't see how it's better than SAO atm. Both are pretty good, but I'd wait until SAO is over to compare the two.

Hmm, episode 12 of SAO was actually pretty good. That was a quite sad ending, but at least we got to find out more about Yui. Well, time to get back to Mirai Nikki. I'm on episode 10 in that series.

The problem I find with SAO in comparison with Accel World is that SAO has been too much side stories up until now that haven't really had much to do with the main story. With Accel World, the only side story I recall that I was skeptical about was Kuroyuki's side story when she went to Okinawa, and even that ended up playing a rather significant part in the end. Now, if SAO's side stories actually do end up playing a significant role by the end of the anime, maybe I'll take back saying it's not as good as Accel World, but as it stands now SAO is lacking in its overall storyline in comparison to Accel World.
However, SAO doesn't just lack in the storyline, but its romance is also somewhat lacking. Yes, it has it's moments, but, by the end of it's season, Accel World had done close to exactly what SAO did (aside from marriage) and more. The depth of the romance in Accel World was so much more, how should I put this... enthralling. I mean, the most beautiful girl in the school fall in love with a fat, short "loser". And why? Because of what she sees in him. In SAO, there is no such depth in the romance at this point. Now, that's not to say that there couldn't be, but even in potential Accel World outweighs SAO in romance.

@ Raizen
The reason why they have to have side stories is pretty much the plot. The problem with sticking to the storyline is that if they kept going through the floors, this series would not last as long. Also, I think some of these side stories were important to introduce some characters that might be of importance later on. I might be wrong on that, but that's my belief.
As for the Romance in SAO, I've actually enjoyed it so far. The romance in Accel World didn't really catch my interest.
I do have a question. Is there a website where I can read the light novel for SAO?

You can read it on, and download it in PDF from, Baka-Tsuki.
To be honest, I really dont think they needed to do as many of the side stories as they did. The only one that is mildly important to anything that happens in the future was Silica's and Lizbet's, and that's only because they pop up again every so often in the future more so than because they actually do anything important, it wouldn't have been hard to introduce them later.
Personally, I would have rathered they used those extra episodes to animate the 'phantom bullet' storyline, which if what I hear on the grapevine is true will be the arc that occurs after the point at which the anime will end.
Overall, I definitely liked Accel World better than SOA so far, even if I do find it a little bit more far fetched and ridiculous. We'll have to see if I can still say that after I read the light novels for it though (which are also on Baka-Tsuki), im gonna get to them after I finish SAO.

"The reason why they have to have side stories is pretty much the plot."
Explain your reasoning here, please. They already have a main storyline, so they shouldn't be adding side stories unless they pertain to the actual story. At this point, the only side story that's done this is the one in which Kirito obtains his second sword. If the actual storyline is too short then it's too short, and the pointless side stories take away from the anime in my opinion.
As for the romance, one reason I'm guessing it captured you more than in Accel World was the scene in which it was implied that Asuna was prepared to have coitus with Kirito, adding more of a visual affect to the romance than Accel World had.

I just finished Mirrai Nikki. It was a good anime. I did get a little lost towards the end, but I think I understood it once I rewatched the last several episodes. I'd give it a 7/10.
Oh, is Neon Genesis Evangelion the first season of that series?
