I thought it made plenty sense. I mean, everybody in the world hated him at that point. He couldn't make anybody follow his orders without using geass on them. He took all the hatred of the Britian Empire unto himself and wiped the slate clean paving the way for a better future.

People only hated him (or more so his family) because of the atrocities committed by his father. By overthrowing him, Lelouch could quite easily have redirected all that hate by condemning and demonizing his father, and in doing so gained the support of those whom he had freed from tyranny by demonstrating benevolence and a mind for a future of peace and prosperity.
Even if he had to Geass a few people to make it happen, that seems to me a far better result than to throw away his life in order to gamble on an uncertain future.

Kihnaigh, seeing that post about anime for nonanime likers may I recommend watching darker than black, it is everything that you would like, about 25 episodes and an interesting story, although the second season wasn't as great as the first it's still nice.

Jesse, while you do have a nice point, the fatal flaw is that he couldn't have demonized his father because in order to make his plan work he needed Britannia to hate him as well, whereas Charles had a decent enough approval that it just couldn't have worked out. Also, the only one in the show that appears to have a special grudge against the royalty is Lelouch himself. Knowing Lelouch for the character he was, he was entrusting his plan to Suzaku who just became the savior of the world, the black knights and Nunnally and Szhneizel, who as a combined force held enough political weight to set the world on the right path. I really don't see anything wrong with that.

@ Kilneigh, If you enjoyed Death Note you're almost sure to love Code Geass. I am biased in that it is my favorite anime but the shows do hold many similarities while I think Code Geass was done better overall.

Same here, Fall looks like its going to be one of the strongest seasons in a long while, lots of good looking stuff. Does anybody know i they have announced the title for that original story that Gen Urob*chi is supposed to the making this season?

Isn't the point that if he had done it my way then he wouldn't have needed Brittania to hate him in the first place? It's not that I don't get Lelouch's thought process or how he intended for the plan to work, its just that its the kind of plan that is only valid when your completely backed up against the wall and there's no alternative, better way to do things, and I just really don't think the situation was quite that far gone or desperate to justify gambling on the future. I call it 'gambling' because prior to that point Lelouch had been the maipulator, it felt unlike him to make a preparation and then just let it run its course.

In my opinion, Golgo 13 tops both Death Note and Code Geass. Although Death Note was pretty awesome.
Anyone know if they're going to continue with the Initial D anime, or is it just the manga that's going forward?

Personally I think Sword Art Online is kinda terrible. The light novel is superior in every aspect, but I guess most people don't like to read.
I'm trying to plow through the remainder of the Summer season because fall is going to be good. Summer season was a letdown.
Looking forward for the Fall Season just to name a few: Btooom!, JoJos Bizarre Adventure, Magi, Robotics;Notes.

@Kihnaigh: Idk if you've seen it but you might enjoy Steins;Gate.
Time travel, pretty good stuff. Good characters.

@Arctic Foxy: Yeah I believe there will be more Initial D either late this year or next.
Look up it online- "Initial D Fifth Stage".
And hi guys...I'm new here. Didn't know there was an anime thread on RS. :P
