It's OK, hasn't struck me as being exceptionally brilliant yet, but the story is getting off to a fairly slow start so there's still plenty of time (23 episodes left). Only really notable comment I have is that I find some of the decisions made by the characters to run counter to any brand of logic I'm familiar with, which can make it all seem a little ridiculous (not a good thing, since SAO is meant to be 'serious business').
EXPLANATION/SPOILER BELOW
For some reason, the MC decides to do a Code Geass-esque 'i'll take all of your hate upon myself' thing at the end of the second episode, dressing himself up as the bad guy in order to quell emnity between beta players and newbies. Just like in Code Geass, it's totally not called for because a simple explanation of the situation and demonstration of simple leadership skills (the type that anyone with any semblance of force of personality possesses) would have sufficed.
Second one, which happens prior to the above example, is when one of the side characters dies. He feels the need to stop the MC from giving him what I assume was a healing potion in order to deliver this massive spiel. Its like 'so, why could you not have done that AFTER you drank the HP potion and...you know...not died'?
And third...STICK TO THE BLOODY PLAN!! is all I have to say. Dumb-ass side character charges in and gets owned for no good reason and, in my opinion, completely counter to the character they had already established for him.
