I dunno, but I do really feel that Shana 3 is very boring......Too much talks and chitchat with less actions.
I like the previous seasons better, I'm very near of dropping this anime if I'm not a fan.
But I have to, just to finish a series that I've started.

Tried the first three episodes of Steins;gate and dropped it without much second thought. Shoddy animation, horrid pacing and editing, all around poor direction.
It takes more than an interesting story to keep my attention, especially when it's an adaptation where I can read the story instead. If a work within a visual medium does nothing worthwhile visually, I cannot in good faith call it a good work nor continue watching it if it is in episodic format.
Claiming it to be in the top 5 best animes ever made is preposterous.

Ill second that. I dont think they could reasonably market it at a $285 price point in a market awash with $25 DVD box sets if it wasn't. I already put in my pre-order for all three of the overpriced Aniplex special editions, no doubt they would disappear instantly if I didnt order them right now since as far as I know the print run is limited to only a few hundred each.
As for my opinion on Steins;Gate, I also dont feel that its worthy of the title as being one of the 5 best anime ever. I liked it, aside from the fact that the story gets pretty slow in some points I thought that it was a very well done production as far as being an entertainment piece goes, I still dont think its really worthy of sitting up on the pedestal

Madoka is interesting. It suffers from a lot of problems that every SHAFT show suffers from -- woefully inconsistent animation. Not bad animation (well, not always -- there are times of dire quality in the frames)
One minute you'll have an amazing visual spectacle, full of director Akiyuki Shinbo's specialties involving light and shadows.. and then the next minute you'll be seeing "meduka" (a meme highlighting this shift in quality)
I'll have to rewatch the BDs (which as with many SHAFT shows, are heavily improved/touched up) to give it a fair shake. It's definitely a good show though.
I may even buy the overpriced Blu-rays to support the anime market in the US for my rewatch. Only the standard edition though, I'm not paying $70+ for a few episodes. Even $40 is a bit wacky but I can deal with that.

Given what ive seen of the TV / BD comparison shots, it looks like alot of retouching and retexturing has been done to the home video release, though not all of it is necessarily to my liking (I favored the bleaker and less colorful approach taken to some settings in the TV version.
With the special editions, its less 'paying $70+ for a few episodes' than it is paying the regular price for the episodes and buying the CD that comes with it on top of that price, with some other junk on the side. Given the amount of media your getting with them, the price tag is reasonable enough. And personally, I think Yuki Kajiura's music is worth the price, even if the soundtrack for PMMM wasn't her best works .
