Don't worry, I'm well aware that there are people that are similar to you; I have no problem with them.
In fact, I believe my style of enjoying Anime puts me into the minority of the Anime-enjoying community. It doesn't really bother me because not everyone can like the same Anime for the same reasons.

The worst part about being a fan of Anime (in my opinion) is that people sort-of black list you as a nerd that still watches "cartoons".
This might be only me, but I've seen and heard many people that judge us for our interests. I don't say anything because everyone's entitled to their opinions. Do I feel mad about that? Yes I do. But I try my best to act as ethically and morally as I can.
I am for the most part disappointed at those that treat us not human for liking something (depending on the content) that can affect us positively in real life. All they do is just focus on the negatives.

For me, the best and the worst part of being an anime fan is how that mixes with my liking of collecting stuff. Its incredibly satisfying to add something new to a collection and to plan future purchases, but the endless hits on the wallet are always painful and theres been more than one time when ive accidentally overdrawn my bank account.
As for the ignorant masses, ive never really had to deal with people like that, at least not in real life. I would presume thats because I mostly associate with people like myself, or just dont really push the subject when I know they aren't familiar with it.
Probably the most ignorant real life people ive eve had to deal with are my parents, who feel the need to give me 'what will happen when you grow out of cartoons' lecture every time they sign for a package. *Sigh,* they just dont get it...
The internet is, of course, an entirely different story. So many people who are only familiar incorrect public opinions and jump on the hating bandwagon. This is my I make a point of always making my own investigations into things instead of just adhering to 'popular opinion'.

PS-ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH, someone sub Higurashi Kira already!!! I got so tired of waiting that i watched a crappy 360p raw on youtube. Gotta love the OP, its weird as all hell (but hilarious because of it). The whole episode was pretty much fanservice, but its not like i was expecting them to expand on the plot anyways.

I think the only place you won't get ridiculed for watching anime is on a public forum remaining anonymous or in Japan.
