I just started taking some online japanese lessons ($99.95 later), in the hope of at least getting a basic knowledge of the language down before i go to japan on holiday (im planning on doing so next year, assuming my finances are still in good shape).
Even though some of its perplexing me, its amazing just how much of the introductory coursework i already know just through the knowledge of japanese ive gained from watching anime with subtitles, and how much easier it makes it to understand the structure of the language.
So far ive done two practice tests on basic conversational japanese and ive gotten 100% on both of them

Wow, that's great!
I only know a few words, nothing more. But I haven't been watching anime for a long time either.
Out of interest I studied the Hiragana characters a while ago and tried to translate a Japanese manga. Of course I had to skip all Kanji, I'm not planning to learn that.

I still need to watch the last 3 episodes. It's really interesting, but also very confusing.
