BLEACH. Over said, but it's my favourite one. Probably though, funniest one is Elfen Lied, due to peoples limbs just randomly falling off.

Elfen Lied could have been good if it was longer...
Bleach is Shounen so of course once it is serialized and in the top 10 it will always be a recommendation to everyone new to anime.
Although i find those Animes, Naruto, Bleach and One piece not worth Recommending (They aren't bad, in fact they are awesome). The reason being is that they are famous enough, so once people watch anime they'll eventually stray that far.
As well that getting the info about over 100+ episodes sounds intimidating to new anime watchers.
A Good recommendation is an anime that would be acceptable to those not used to the overly random humour/fight effects usually used in Anime, such as in the Gibli movies.
A Recommendation to new anime watchers from me would be: Clannad (If you intend to watch anime you have to get used to the EYES)

When i said Clannad, doesn't that normally add the second season?
As they got *Clannad* in both of them?
Well if it wasn't clear, then yes, both of the season, and if you're not patient enough to watch both of them then watch Clannad the Movie.
Then usually you move on to more of Key's animes

The anime got loads of Drama and Romance and a little Comedy on the top of it. And if you have seen it several times you can figure out the small hidden things that makes the story whole. Or maybe you'll notice everything after seeing it through once, if you are observant and good at making hypothesis.

Dunno if anyone here has seen it, but Higurashi (AKA When They/The Cicadas Cry)is one of my all-time favorite animes =D
It starts off like any slice-of-life anime but then it quickly turns into a horror =P
It's divided into several arcs in the first season. Each one appearing to tell different bits of the story until you get into the 4th arc or so when one of the characters recalls events from a DIFFERENT arc. It's a real thinker anime, along with horror. And I really like it.
Kinda wish Funimation would get the go from Genion to re-dub it though. And while there at it, the second and third seasons too.
Also, another one of my favorites is an anime called "Spiral"
and it's another mystery one, which is how i like it
