I thought you were Australian Jesse. Not so long ago on abc2 they showed Cowboy Bebop, Code Geass, Death note and just now they've finished showing Blade of the Immortal. All of that was on at times around 10-11pm. I'm presuming they'll be starting new stuff at the start on next year too. Also even on community TV channels CH31(Melb) WTV1 (Perth) and TVS (Sydney) they're starting an anime block at 10:30pm Mon for 31, 10:30pm Sat for WTV1 and 8:30pm Sat for TVS.
So it's not to hard to get anime on TV at time that isn't even that bad. You just can't get it on any big channels or anything and have to wait until just after primetime shows have finished.

As for the bill I agree with some restrictions they might want to put on thing to stop younger people watching stuff. But I'm sure if they even just made it so you had to be over 17 to watch stuff so many companies would adjust that a lot of shows could be ruined. Also for the new shows that don't follow the guidelines a lot of that would get stuck on late at night where it'll be hard to show so many shows.
Let's just hope this doesn't get passed and if it does hope changes need to be made before it gets passed so it's not as bad.

Fair enough then. You can tell i dont watch a whole lot of TV, and even when i do i mostly just watch the news, gameshows and police/customs related shows on channel 7.
I still reckon you would have a tough time getting 7, 9 and 10 , which pull probally 95% of viewership at the very least, to air any anime.

That's true but now they're all making 2nd or 3rd channels like Go! or 11 we might get to see some more on them. I'm also pretty sure they had some newer episodes of Digimon on in the morning on Go! for a while. That was for kids though..

Mhmm. Gererally, TV companies ere more interested in the age target of the show involved than where it comes from. That would be one of the largest hurdles, making them understand that this thing called anime is not the same as an other form of animation, regardless of the targeted age.

I don't really think that's really the problem shows like Digimon or Pokemon are actually targeted at kids in Japan too so it's fair enough they get treated like kids shows here. But when it comes to other more violent shows that might be M rated it's pretty clear it's not just a kids shows as it's recommended your over 15 to watch it.
I think the real problem is just getting TV stations to realise that there actually is an audience of people who aren't just kids that would watch anime. What a station needs to do is try getting a good anime block on at a decent time with shows that aren't all 10 years old and see how many viewers it'd actually get.

Actually by normal standards most anime's are rated in 2 common sections 15+ or 18 which also applies to games since Japanese games are not rated by ESRB but CERO instead.
And remember the airing station is making the money so you have take what they give its not really up to you.All airings are treated the same regardless if its live-action or an anime.
;If you say something stinks and then try to put a lid on it by censoring it,
;all you do is increase the number of warped people out there.

Here in Australia most is M or MA15+. But my point was that if a shows rated that and not G or PG which are kids ratings then stations realise it's not for kids. Then just don't show it because they don't realise that there's enough older people that actually watch anime.
I know it's not exactly up to us to be able to pick what's on as commercial stations show what gets viewers. But I still think they should try and see how well it could actually work.
