You guys think it's worth paying $17 to go see Kono Sekai no Katasumi ni? The only subtitled showing is on Friday and I have the day off but this movie hasn't really been on my radar.
It was worth seeing, the first part is slice of life as the protagonist adapts to her new life in a city with a large naval presence near Hiroshima, and the rest focuses on enduring the hardships of privation and loss followed by the stark realization that Japan's surrender rendered it all for naught. The atmosphere is pretty comfy until shit suddenly gets real and the chronology creeps closer and closer to August 6, 1945.
“Loddfafnir, listen to my counsel: You will fare well if you follow it, It will help you much if you heed it. If aware that another is wicked, say so: Make no truce or treaty with foes.”
