Decided to pick up Classroom of the Elite and it is excellent so far (4 episodes in). It reminds me a lot of Oregairu as it has a deadpan mc that doesn't really connect that well with people and his only two friends are the stoic silent intelligent girl and the bubbly friendly not as smart girl. The main difference is that this mc solves problems without taking credit and people don't mind him where as the Oregairu mc generally solves problems by doing the most practical thing he can think of which also always makes people hate him for some reason.
The concept of the show is very interesting, the students are given monthly salaries based on how well they perform and the class ranking overall can change so it is really a team battle to be the number 1 class. Also if you suck bad enough you can be expelled.
So far it has been very interesting and only a little heavy handed. For example the monologue from the start of episode 1 about people being equal was clearly just to be a physical representation of the question the show is trying to address and it could have just as easily been a simple confrontation about seating arrangements without making grand statements about equality and illustrated the same point while being much more natural. Also the way the mc gets 50s on all his tests on purpose because he is obsessed with equality is way over the top. There are a million ways to believably depict a mc struggling with questions about equality without giving him some rare ocd. Other than those 2 nitpicks the show is really great.
Friendly girl is best girl 10/10 would impregnate & wife. 8/10 show.
