Not to mention this kind of idiocy rules out a lot of other shows like Torkeizer and The King's Avatar aka the best anime of this season and perhaps the best mmorpg based anime of all time.

What the word means in Japanese has no relevance here; in any English context, "anime" refers to Japanese animation. It's not elitism, it's simply the word's definition. We already have the general term "animation," we don't use a loan word from Japanese to mean the exact same thing.

Avatar: The Last Airbender and shows like it are either anime-styled or Western anime, or whatever other qualifier you prefer. Patrolling Lore FC almost makes you wish for a Great Revision.
