Ugh. I hate it when people put out fansubs or scanaltions that are either blatantly wrong, or the prose in them is on the level of a Kindergartener . Seriously, how can they stomach releasing such low quality work? Leader of The Enemy ||

Though the majority of them don't get paid anything for it, so I really have no idea what motivates people to put out crappy subs. Remember Hadena? They where OK after a while but I rememebr their cancerous first releases, the fight in the comments section on nyaa was glorious.

Which raises an interesting question, which is more imortant in subs accuracy or the 'experience'. Going back to conversations on ANN surrounding Crunchyrolls (and hence, pretty much every other release since fansubbing is dead) memesub release of Gabriel Dropout that had inserted jokes all over the place.

Personally, I'm for accuracy. The counterargumentsp eople usually come up with are stupid to, like 'if you know Japanese then why don't you watch it raw' or ' the subs are for people who don't speak and Japanese so theres room to make them more fun'. I'm sorry, but even if I'm not fluent i've been watching Japanese media long enough to know when the word I'm reading and hearing don't match, and do they really think the uninitiated are going to be watching a show like Gabriel Dropout? It's not exactly Naruto...

Also, if your one of those people who thinks a show set in a western setting is more immersive in dub becasue the characters are speaking English, please shoot youtself.

Doesn't the sub's accuracy play a big part in the experience overall?

In some cases, I am willing to sacrifice a bit of the experience so that I can immediately watch a show - if I'm desperate enough, that is. For example: right now I am waiting eagerly for the Koe no Katachi movie (will be released on DVDs in May). I would probably tolerate some bad subbing just so that I can watch the movie, as long as it's not ridiculously bad like some subs I have seen.

Some subbers just want the satisfaction of being the first, even at the expense of quality.
