I might be willing to go to conventions, but none are ever held near where I live. Well, none that I know of as they aren't advertised well.

Most seem to be in the US, Japan and Canada.

I haven't heard of Katsucon. Is that in the US?

Yeah, there is one that was held here last year, but it sold out almost instantly. Apparently it is getting held again this year in March, but we will see.

By advertising I mean word of mouth really. Anime, gaming and such is pretty much non-existent here in discussions. So it is near impossible to find out about such things.

Internet being the only way really, but keeping up-to-date with events that aren't regularly brought up are hard to follow and remember. Well, for me personally.

I would imagine that what sold out was probably just the advance tickets. That's how it works for the one that occurs here at any rate, they sell a limited amount of advance tickets online and then more of them on the day.
