sure luffy is pretty damn stupid, he went into a jail voluntarily and then escaped, among other ridiculous things, if hes strong enough to not get caught.... is kaidou doing it on purpose >_>? Well firstly, I tend to favor science fiction in general when it comes to any sort of story. Now mecha gets a bad rap because of the most recent anime in the genre. There hasn't been a good mecha since like 2008 with Gurren Lagann. There may be one or two which escape me right now and I'll go check on that after this comment.

But war and politics come hand and hand with mecha usually, which I love. The stories presented tend to be the most intriguing and exciting for me. The mecha anime of the 80s-90s there's just a lot going on story-wise with a wide array of characters, conflicts, political subterfuge, and the like. I find it to be the most thrilling and enjoyable.

Right so since 2008, funny since there's as many I think look to be quality that I haven't seen than there are that I know are quality. So let's start off with the things I haven't seen but I'm pretty sure are quality:

Shin Mazinger
Gundam Unicorn
Gundam: The Origin
Gundam Thunderbolt

(I've been slacking on my new Gundam series')

Now for things I know for a fact are quality:

The Macross Frontier movies
Eureka Seven AO, I know this gets hated on quite a bit but I honestly liked it. Maybe it's just for the fact I'm such a fan of the original series.
Apparently the newer Ghost in the Shell movies are considered mecha because of the Tachikomas. Not mecha in my eyes and the newer material isn't as good as the older but meh, it's still a lot better than most of the stuff coming out.

And lastly we have Cross Ange which is actually really good after you get past episode 6. Prior to that it's just Mean Girls and yuri fanservice pandering, but I'll give them credit for doing a complete 180 after that. Ange is arguably the greatest character in recent years comparable to the likes of Motoko from GiTS and Revy from Black Lagoon.

I just like to mix it up every now and again. Like watching Monster for a psychological thriller, Berserk for some sword action, Hellsing Ultimate for the vampires (good ones that hadn't been tarnished by Twilight), Clannad because I heard it was an emotional romcom type, and now Evangelion. Prepare for hell on RuneScape in Naval Cataclysm!
