To bad the ending sucks...

The only ending that can come of an anti-hero

The problem is that THAT particular ending requires an element of necessity and, depending on who you ask, you can drop the 'anti-' from the equation entirely.
Lelouch had already [overthrown the oppressive, racist dictatorship imposed by his father on the Japanese so is good for pretty much everyone. That bit about needing a scapegoat to push blame onto is just an unrequired final attempt at a dramatic ending that the series didn't need and wasn't justified by the story.

He was just as corrupt and manipulative as his father. A martyrdom also ends the story for good.

And yet, he still felt the need to go out with a selfless act for the people in spite of this, why? If he was as corrupt as you say, then that would just be a contradiction to his character. He was, prior to all that BS, in the best position to achieve his professed goals, so in the end, there was just no good REASON for his little charade of playing the villain. If he wanted his sister in the top job because he felt that would be better for the people, all he had to do was announce he was stepping down. He can do that since, you know, he's king and all.

Also, the ending hasn't put a full-stop on the series at all. I've had plenty if people try to convince me that Lelouche is still alive and well when I've pointed out that you cant have a sequel when the main character is deceased.

Seriously, What is up with that anyway? People always asking 'when is the second season (series name) coming out' under the most ridiculous circumstances. It's like, you could make a series where, in the last episode, a giant rock falls out of the sky and blows the planet apart, killing the entire cast, and people would still ask when the second season is coming out...

I think this has gotten worse over recent years. *cough* Madoka Third Movie *cough
** might just be due to the super huge commitment shows becoming less popular. I almost never hear anyone talking about Fairytail, One Piece or Naruto etc. nowadays.

I've been meaning to watch the larger anime series but some of them have hundreds of episodes now and it's totally off putting. I think I watched like the first four or so episodes of Fairytail already, if memory serves me right.

Also was going to try Soul Eater. I assume people here have seen it, thoughts on it?

Soul Eater: Entertaining cast with a power of friendship sort of disappointing ending (Happens in Fairytail too). It's fun but no must watch masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination and there is nothing you'll miss about it by watching other action series'. If you have seen Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood there should be no real urgency to see Soul Eater. Soul Eater probably works better to watch with friends because of it's quirky and light-hearted nature though while FMA covers some heavier topics.
