I'm not saying nobody plays VNs outside of East Asia I'm saying how many VNs/LNs do you see here in the States relative to their respective anime adaptions? on top of that VNs are alot harder to translate and requires programming skills compared to anime translation...

The market for written media will always be smaller that visual media, that's almost a given. Not to mention that visual novels have a tendency to contain content that makes them difficult to market in less perverse societies, more or less guaranteeing that unless the VN already has a successfully released adaptation or comes from a brand with an established reputation in the west (ie: Key, Nitro+, 07th Expansion and to a lesser extent brands like AliceSoft) then they aren't going to sell well. The small availability of titles that fall into that bracket pretty much kills any chance of having a booming industry like anime has.

on top of what you said, VNs aren't games and can't be marketed as one and likewise it can't be marketed as a book either and therefore it's something of a category of its own "All men are jealous and stupid, and all women are stupid to be happy about it, idiots are everywhere you look…"

I take it that was sarcasm? Hang out in places like Hongfire a little more and you'll see what I mean, the Rance games do have a small degree of following, so I just included that as an example of something that would move SOME units by name alone.
