That type of 'project onto this slate to commence wish fulfillment' type of story goes without saying, but what I said about male characters being less fulfilling visually is still true even of series that have a low, no or specifically anti-female presence. There's just a lot more that you can do with a female character aesthetically.

This also goes a long way to explaining why I don't bother with cosplay much despite how many cons I go to and the fact that a friend of mine is a professional cosplay photographer. There's so few visually appealing male characters in anime that I can practically never find one I want to have a crack at portraying. I'm the type who goes at my hobbies full force and would only be satisfied with something I made rather than bought, so visual interest in a must.

A surefire way to make a male character more appealing = put a cigarette in their mouth. It makes them infinitely cooler.

I'd probably never cosplay in my life, but if I ever did... I'd probably be Spike Spiegal or Char Aznable.

@Jesse (pertaining to the third Madoka movie discussion a few pages back)

My apologies for not checking back sooner on this forum, I kinda forget it exists sometimes. I'd love to discuss the movie with you at length, but I feel the RS forums may not be the most appropriate place to do so, just incase I end up spoiling something for anyone with a wandering eye. I'm not completely opposed to the idea of doing it here, I just don't want to be 'that guy'. We could do it via MAL's messaging system, if that's no problem. Let me know what you want to do.
