Those types of rankings are unreliable at best, because they are based on how many people have ranked a particular show. By that system anime A that scored one vote of 5 is better than anime B that scored 1000 votes of 5 and one vote of 4.
Plus, most people only have two voting standards "it was the greatest thing since sliced bread" and "that was utter crap". You see it alot in the reviews on anime ranking websites, an anime will be all 5's in everything or all 1's in everything, very rarely do you get a legitimately scored review.
Besides, most popular does not necessarily equal best.

You take the words right out of my mouth.
That said, Brotherhood is suitable for the number 1 spot because it really is a brilliant anime and it is targeted at wide audience. TTGL however, is overrated and targeted at explosions-enthusiasts.
LoGH is a masterpiece of such a degree that it needs a certain IQ to fully comprehense it, hence it does not get the praise it deserves.
I mean, who would watch good animes if you have Naruto [/sarcasm]

Er, Jesse, don't suppose there is anything cheaper is there? O_o
Just done a few calcs and got a price tag (including shipping) of £197.69 which is in Australian Dollars $304.76 O_o
Now, I am not one to judge but this seems a bit excessive for 3 Blu Rays!

Ide be crazy enough to do it :P
But I dunno how you managed to get $304 AUD, unless your country has some crazy import taxes. I just tried it picking some random countries in Region B and they all come to about $180 AUD with shipping included.
But that's pretty standard pricing for Australia (hence why I only bi domestically if a superior release is on offer now days, its cheaper for m to buy from the US if its the same product) so you cant really expect to get it cheaper. Your only other option is unlocking your BD player and buying a US import.

Actually, NVM;
Costs between $8-9.5 per item in international delivery. I forgot I can get the first 2 volumes from the UK for approximately £10 ($16) each. After that, ordering from Madman will require 2 orders which total up to $119.90 and the final one being $69.95. This then totals up to;
$249.9 for the whole series.
This in GBP = £162.26
This then adds up to on average £32.45 per Blu Ray or $49.98.
Not AS bad but still better than £50 per blu ray. O_o

^ No official date has been confirmed yet
Anyways
Wo0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0oT! <---actually did this IRL lol. Why you ask? Well, remember back in April how I said that I asked the guys from Siren Visual if there was any chance of a Higurashi Kai, and they said that they would like to but not having a dub would decrease the chance.... THEY DID IT ANYWAYS!!! HIGURASHI KAI IS BEING RELEASED ON DVD IN AUSTRALIA!! W00T!
I don't get many chances to say this so excuse me but: TAKE THAT AMERICA! :P
Official press release below:
Oh yes, you’ve been demanding and here we are to provide! The sequel to When They Cry, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai provides the answers to all those questions that we were all left wondering after the end of the startling and chilling first series.
For those unfamiliar, When They Cry is based on a visual novel. It’s June 1983 in the rural village Hinamizawa. A curse appears to plague the Watanagashi Festival: every year for the past four years someone is killed and another goes missing. This year is particularly special as the characters are unknowingly forced to relive this time, again and again. It’s a twisted blend of cute and funny with a dash of brutal violence here and there and the answers to the town’s constant time loop is thrillingly revealed.
Never before released outside of Japan this is an anime title exclusive to Siren Visual! Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai is comprised of 24 episodes which shall be split into two parts. Part 1 will hit stores in March with pre-orders available after the New Year. Part 2 will follow shortly afterwards.
Due to the complicated release history of When They Cry, the second season will not contain an English dub. This is also part of the reason why the second series is sticking to its Romanised Japanese title, but when learning the answers to the mysteries of Hinamizawa we say it's a fair trade off!
They got it wrong though. Its a 'sound novel', not a visual novel :P
